Avamere Staff and Their Dedication Get Noticed!

My husband & I are entertainers for seniors and have been playing at many of the Avamere’s in the Portland area and Seaside for many years.  We perform at over 75 different senior facilities, in all areas of care, so we see a lot of things.

One day before playing at the Avamere in Sherwood, Sabrina, the Activities Director, was running the Food Council meeting with all the residents. I was overcome with joy  to see such resident involvement.  Sabrina and the chef were asking what the residents wanted, and it was obvious they were going to get it too…from a certain veggie to the oatmeal raisin cookies.  How wonderful to have a valued opinion when you are at that stage of life and have little to no other choices to make.  I know its a little thing, but we have a friend who moved into one of those giant places that you buy into, and they still charge him extra if he wants fries!!  Makes me MAD!  (He didn’t ask our opinion of where to go, he had decided years ago).

Every Avamere we go into is clean; the food is good, home style food; and there seems to be a lot of activities for the resident to have things to do, a common complaint at many places. I know (as a past employee in Seaside) that safety is also key.  The Avamere facilities are small enough to feel like home, where everyone knows everyone and are like a family, yet spacious if you need your space.

I guess I just wanted to say, everything you do is working.  Good job to all the employees.

Thank you for providing facilities that are GOOD and we are confident to recommend.

Sincerely,
Kim C.
